TURIN DESIGN HUB WORKSWORKS AT AT THE INTERSECTION OF RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE IN ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN.

A research-driven architectural design team with international experience and local sensitivity. Architects with world-class expertise, passionately shaping environments that respect and reflect their surroundings.

An experiment in practice innovation.

The specific know-how of TDH is the starting point and the generator of an experiment in practice innovation: it was born from a constant exchange between the founding members and the Chinese context, through relations with universities, administrations and local communities, in a position of listening and searching for the intersection between knowledge related to practice in Italy and China. The aim is to innovate the way of producing architecture and quality, bringing the positive energies of a global practice, eliminating its more strictly extractive and branding-related components and strengthening its embeddedness in the context, to generate a community of practices producing recognisably innovative projects.

Methodology

TDH is a cluster of Italian design professionals. Different paths and international experiences give shape to a unique approach rooted in local sensibility.

HUB

Turin is a city with a long and layered history, an industrial era that today constitutes a heritage of knowledge and architecture, an environmental and cultural capital leading anyone dealing with it as a designer to give centrality to specific values: a constant dialogue with the context, be it urban, architectural or above all human – clients, surrounding communities, administrations and workers; the valorizations of heritage, as a matter of cultural richness and technical knowledge to be taken as a guide; sustainability of materials, design strategies, and design outputs throughout their life cycle.

TURIN

From the home to the city, embracing the landscape and its transformations, TDH's portfolio covers almost the entire planet. Still, it is in another of the three words that the group's knowledge capital is built.

DESIGN

What does research-driven design mean in a world facing a whole new meaning of globalisation? If the global architect that McNeill profiled at the beginning of the millennium was an individual or a company capable of operating indifferently in any corner of the planet, applying universally valid strategies, to understand what this expression means today we need concepts and words capable of describing architectural practice in the contemporary world. This is the realm where Turin Design Hub operates.
